Contact Juggling Day! October 9, 2010

The first World Contact Juggling day will be on October 9, 2010

It’s looking really awesome so far. Everyone is coming over to the facebook group and representing their town/city. Many of the people on .org are beginning to write press releases to see if they can get on television! It’s quite an exciting time for contact jugglers, my secret hope is that it means jugglers who have never met before get to find each other, because in doing so, our community finds solidarity in times of turmoil.

I <3 contact jugglers and the community that they create. I am so lucky to be a part of this wacky dynamic sub-culture. Look out world HERE WE COME!

MadSkillz Vancouver! Flow, Juggle, Spin!

The various awesome juggling, spinning and flow based crews in Vancouver are all getting together in Vancouver to celebrate the community and the art of flow.  I am privileged to work with amazing people across this town and some special guest out of towners who will be attending Madskillz.

This will be the biggest thing in the Vancouver juggling scene! This place is exploding with talent, and I feel grateful that we get to show it off!

Filmed, blogged and intrigued.

I was recently blogged by Edwin, also known as MoMo who writes at http://adventuresofedrocker.blogspot.com/. I have met  Edwin once before during a gig for Lotto Max where he was a large gigantic ball! Of course I liked him at first site, ha ha, as it doesn’t get much better than that as a costume. He even let me try it on! We met this time at an extra job I did for a TV pilot. He took a few photos of the set and of us jugglers, check it out.

I was really happy to be at this gig, I hope I get more like it. Everyone involved seemed very professional and nice, It was mostly clear what I was supposed to do and where I was to go, although some of this also comes with experience in the field. I think I will talk to Local Color again to see if they may be interested in having me on their call list. It would work well with street performance as a way to maintain my abilities to develop my acts.

Wow! Olympic Portioned Performing Schedule

Life has been very busy over the last few weeks. As you may have heard, the city of Vancouver had the most epic celebration in history. What a wild 18 days that was.

I will be posting videos and photos of many of the events I attended and performed for over the next few days. Overall, I performed at 4 different Olympic sites including Robson Square, the Richmond Oval, Surrey Site and Granville Island.

In the meantime, I am still recovering from the party & getting my things back together so I can be ready for anything everytime.
:)

Turbofest 2010 Recap

Oh wow,

what an amazing group of people out there in Quebec City! They have an amazing space to train, and it’s obvious that training is what they do! I juggled for 18 hours a day while I was at this festival, except when I was watching other people juggle. It was fascinating and unbelievable the amount of talent in this one room!

Happy Holidays!

I have been traveling around the Toronto / Southern Ontario area to be with my family over the holidays. There is little else like staying at your mom’s house by a warm fire on a very cold winters night.

Chinese Night Market – New Promo!

Here is a great representation of what Ryan and I did for all of 2009. It was a great year for street performing & will allow me to have the inertia to keep this work up! It’s currently my favorite thing to do. :)

Boobalicious 2009!

Oh what a fun and exciting evening with the people at Inner Ring and the BC Breast Cancer foundation. With 30 girls trying to use one bathroom to dress & get ready in it was a hilarious experience as a performer. There were fashion shows and dancers and a live band and DJ’s. Circus performers were in every corner and the night was hot hot hot!

There was a lot of fun videos and photos from this event! Check out the Vancouver Circus Team in action! Things in this city are really heating up!

Dawn Roving

Burnaby Haunted Village 2009!

Dawn as a clownThis gig was an amazing experience where I got to be part of Public Dreams Society performer set at Burnaby Village over Halloween. I was a juggler who was cursed and could no longer juggle! How sad!

This experience really gave me a chance to add some character and expression to the my art. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with the PDS.

Woot!

Sadly, I only have my cell phone to take my own photographs, and so this is all the evidence I have of this sad non-juggling clown.
