Torch Relay Show

The cauldron went out last night, meaning we have finally finished this epic run in Vancouver history. It was an amazing show of art, sports and culture. In fact, I have never seen Vancouver’s culture come out in such full force before! This town in brimming with artists and eccentrics and they all came out to show everyone what crazy ideas they had to show the world! I sincerely hope this opens up a new breath for this city, lets show Broadway what we’ve got!

For me, the beginning comes at the end, here is a full cut of the performance that me and the Madskillz folks did for the first round of the torch relay! This was my first fire performance ever! (even though I have been spinning for 5 years, funny, eh?). Enjoy!

The beginning of my Stilting Career

I bought stilts last summer and have been practicing on them for a almost 9 months now. I feel like I can go out into the world with them and show everyone how super tall I am, YAY! The hope is to be able to juggle, contact juggle, spin fire and do everything except unicycle on top of stilts, making all of my shows have double the impact!

I also bought some fabric to make my first pair of basic stilt trousers and I am looking for materials to cover the feet like shoes. I think it is important to the whole character to have full feet, giving the audience relief to their suspension of disbelief!

Here we go folks, I can now stilt walk on 2 ft stilts for your parties (soon to be 4ft as these are adjustable)! The hope is that I can do almost all my juggling, high up in the air! WEE!

Filmed, blogged and intrigued.

I was recently blogged by Edwin, also known as MoMo who writes at http://adventuresofedrocker.blogspot.com/. I have met  Edwin once before during a gig for Lotto Max where he was a large gigantic ball! Of course I liked him at first site, ha ha, as it doesn’t get much better than that as a costume. He even let me try it on! We met this time at an extra job I did for a TV pilot. He took a few photos of the set and of us jugglers, check it out.

I was really happy to be at this gig, I hope I get more like it. Everyone involved seemed very professional and nice, It was mostly clear what I was supposed to do and where I was to go, although some of this also comes with experience in the field. I think I will talk to Local Color again to see if they may be interested in having me on their call list. It would work well with street performance as a way to maintain my abilities to develop my acts.

Robson Square Stage

Here is a short from a stage show I did with my friend James Hamilton and his group Eastern Star over the February Celebrations. I really enjoy working with James, who is a seasoned performer in the music industry all over the world. I would love more opportunities to work with a band. It really gives a full atmosphere for a performance when a group comes together like this. Feel free to check out his website at www.sitarmusic.ca

And the crowd goes wild!

And the crowd goes wild!

Thanks to the person who recommended my website, I’ve gotten an extra gig for TV! The momentum has really come in my juggling world, it seems I am surrounded by it at home, work and amongst my friends! It’s really awesome to be immersed in this wonderful culture! It really allows me to improvise my skills from event to event, working with diverse crews of people who all have different skills. I am so grateful that I get to be amongst such inspiring and humbling people in my life. Thank you to all of you!

Wow! Olympic Portioned Performing Schedule

Life has been very busy over the last few weeks. As you may have heard, the city of Vancouver had the most epic celebration in history. What a wild 18 days that was.

I will be posting videos and photos of many of the events I attended and performed for over the next few days. Overall, I performed at 4 different Olympic sites including Robson Square, the Richmond Oval, Surrey Site and Granville Island.

In the meantime, I am still recovering from the party & getting my things back together so I can be ready for anything everytime.

Dress Rehearsal!

With the Olympics coming to Vancouver in just under 6 days, I have been busy preparing for gigs with costumes and rehearsals. The city has changed, the tourists have begun descending upon this small city, ZIP lines, Jumbotrons, pretty lights and art installations have appeared in every corner! This city is about to POP! In preparation I have created a costume archive, check it out! Watch for me during the Torch Relay on February 12 as I will be doing a fire performance with my troop! I will be performing on all the streets I can. I am totally excited to be a part of these celebrations. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Turbofest 2010 Recap

Oh wow,

what an amazing group of people out there in Quebec City! They have an amazing space to train, and it’s obvious that training is what they do! I juggled for 18 hours a day while I was at this festival, except when I was watching other people juggle. It was fascinating and unbelievable the amount of talent in this one room!

Happy Holidays!

I have been traveling around the Toronto / Southern Ontario area to be with my family over the holidays. There is little else like staying at your mom’s house by a warm fire on a very cold winters night.

Chinese Night Market – New Promo!

Here is a great representation of what Ryan and I did for all of 2009. It was a great year for street performing & will allow me to have the inertia to keep this work up! It’s currently my favorite thing to do. :)
