I am about to start a project in the middle of my other two major projects. This one will be a contact juggling workshop series that focuses on conceptual understanding of contact juggling (not “tricks”). I have working diligently on scripts and ideas, talking to other jugglers at festivals. I plan to have these ready for download before I leave London at the end of the month, so I have a lot of work ahead of me! However, I am very excited as I believe the conceptual base I am using has not been presented before.

Also, I get to go to Bristol’s other convention to see all of my favorite contact jugglers (not including Tony Duncan)

This is going to be awesome!

I am in the middle point of my travels, and I have decided to teach a workshop for the Toronto folks again. It was a new approach, as I plan to write a new video series to teach in a sense-based way.

I have recieved some great feedback, including one of my students who wrote me this today:

Hey there – just wanted to thank you for a great workshop! I’ve always been fascinated by contact juggling, but had never touched a ball before. I was skeptical that I’d be able to learn much in a short workshop, but was surprised. You taught the basics in a fun and easy to follow way. Balances made sense right away and body rolls were fun to play with. I feel like i have the basic mechanics of isolations as well as a bunch of butterfly variations – there’s lots that i can work on on my own time.

Thanks again, Dawn! see you next time you’re in town!

Thanks for your feedback! It is great to hear I can help people learn something which I have fallen in love with so deeply.

So, wow.

Last night I had a dream that I jumped off the moon with a parachute in my space suit costume to earth. It’s a sign, really, one that knows that I am leaping into a beautiful adventure, arriving in reality and reality is truly a dream.

The reality is that I’ve been invited to join The Busking Project for the last leg of their journey through South America. What an amazing opportunity to be part of this incredible adventure and wonderful contribution to the Street Arts community. I can often be very critical of various causes, but my every part of my soul supports what this team has created already, and wants to help them fulfill this dream to it’s greatest potential. I believe this could be the film that represents street art for what it’s really worth in the world as a contribution to the real life wonders of impromptu art in it’s full glory. It is so well developed in it’s film quality and production, in the way it captures the people they meet, and in the intentions of the team themselves.

Can you be in love with a project? These guys have really captured a dream I hadn’t known existed (yet have already been fulfilling myself on a small scale). I can’t believe I get to join them to help! It’s amazing when something you never imagined flies into your life and happens to be the most incredible thing you’ve ever seen. Awesome.

We need your help to keep this dream alive. The Busking Project is looking for Sponsors or Donations to help with the costs of creating this film. As a independent project, filming in 40 countries over 10 months and creating a feature length film as well as hundreds of promotional shorts for each featured performer, is ambitious. These ambitions are already %50 completed, with some amazing results, and you could help this become the next big film to come out of the film festival circuit. We would be very grateful to any and all contributions to the project.

I’m going to Bogota on Friday. I may not post here for a time, keep updated through the Facebook Page to keep up with the adventure.

It was filled a with great group of beginners who caught on really quickly. Side Show was super helpful, and Yuki took a lot of video of the workshop that perhaps I will see some footage of soon. Thanks to everyone who participated and thanks to sideshow for their gracious use of space! YAY ~ They seriously rocked my world. This is my gold costume, and a small bit of me street performing from an iPhone (Thanks to James for filming). I used this all summer in Toronto and Vancouver as my newest act, and I believe it was a hit! I should get some better footage when The Busking Project gets to editing a short of my set they filmed.

Last weekend, I met the The Busking Project. The production crew, Nick, Chris and Belle came through my house with their cameras to find the local street artists of Vancouver and filmed me and a number of other performers in town. I had contacted them late last year in a response to a thread on Performers.net a street performing message board where Nick had begun asking questions about how people would be willing to help with his project. I messaged him and told him he could should come to Vancouver to see the street artists here. He asked if I had a spare couch, to my surprise, and I offered them a place if they needed somewhere to stay.

After much deliberation from them on whether or not Vancouver would be on the map of their journey, they came to stay with me in my living room and began filming everything within an hour. I had been following these guys on their blog , but I honestly had no idea what I was in for, except from what I had seen in their promotional video.

Once they came in, I was fascinated with the stories they had told me about each country and person they had met on their journey. They have millions of tales of each performer’s unique style and sensibilities. Somehow I over looked all the videos of each person they had on their website, which are amazing in quality and each tell a beautiful story, like the story of the The Hong Kong Rose Sculptor.

These guys are super humble stating “Anyone can do this” as if everyone in the world is as hard working, determined, patient and brave enough to travel the world as they are. They see the beauty of the street theater so automatically that they take their wonder and awe for granted, yet are willing to completely uproot their lives to share this beauty with anyone who will watch! On top of it, they are super generous to the performers, giving them each a High Definition, beautifully shot, quality videos for each of them to use as promotion in the future, editing them all along the way on while on trains, buses and flights. They have a mandate to try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and are staying with local people (couch surfing) the whole trip.

They have done all this magic with donations funded through the people who love street art, with the people who allow them to stay on the couches across the world, and of course with the street artists themselves that they can find who give their time and energy to talk to them. Perhaps I will be lucky enough to gain a place in their documentary, either way, it’s no matter. What they are doing is beautiful and inspiring and perhaps changed the way I view life. .. Or maybe just validated what I see as beautiful and encouraged me to grow a bit more.
